Trafficking Conference in Baltimore

Judith Hilbing, Justice Resource Person for the Dominican Alliance, represented the DA at the third annual anti-trafficking conference for women religious sponsored by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, June 14-16, 2005. The Conference agenda included social analysis around global causes of human trafficking, sharing about victims interviews from Asia, Europe and the US, reflections on action that flows from a discerning heart, and substantial time for networking, and for the formulation of strategies. Speakers included Mary Ellen Dougherty, SSND, Maria Reilly, OP, Rose Mary Dougherty, SSND, and speakers from the U.S. Department of Justice. Twelve Dominicans attended the conference. Other Alliance Justice Promoters who participated were Reg McKillip (Sinsinawa), Rosie VanBuren (Columbus) and Jane Abell (Houston), along with Stephanie Weber, also from Houston.
